this blog is about my journey to a pro footballer/soccer player. This blog is real-life. It’s my diary, my journal that I write in to see my progress. I have determination and belief that I can make it, and I don't know yet if it will pay off but we will just have to wait and see...

It's done. Classes are over. Homework is over. No more tests. No more exams. I am excited for what's next, because now I can just concentrate on getting that life of being a professional footballer and fulfilling my ambitions in life. Getting a degree, finding a job and living an average life is not for me. I want to be something much much bigger, and something more than I could ever imagine myself being. It's a cliche, but I have my whole life ahead of me. Now it's really time to get down and focused.

My Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube page will now be updated more regulary. So far I have 6 likes, 23 followers and subscribers. I'm aiming for a thousand in all departments by the end of June

As far as training and game performances went this week, it wasn't all that great. Here are my notes from Wednesday's game with my youth team and Sunday's game with the Men's reserves. Creating some highlight videos of them as I write.

Game #14 90 min played, left mid and centre attacking mid. Budajuniors.
- worked really hard in the game, was running all the time and trying to get the ball, but Janos says I don't show any character. I'm frustrated, what more can I do.
- scored 1 free kick Ronaldo style.
- another free kick, that was headed into own goal.
- some dribbles, but I got tired towards the end of the dribble and messed it up.
- still not certain about this whole character stuff

Game #15 90 min right back. Hegy.
- probably didn't go forward enough.
- overall played ok, but not amazing.
- didn't feel prepared mentally or physically. Need to have a match day schedule or something where I concentrate on the game and eat earlier.
- dribbles wernet good or fast enough,

Next Week

Last week with 15 hours. Missed 1:20 from previous week.

This is my biggest weakness, and this is what is not allowing me to become the best player. When I'm in a situation where I have little pressure on me, I take too long on the ball and fuck up. This is what happened in Saturday's match on my "leauge debut" with the first team. I did one or two good things but I lost the ball and fouled too often which caused me to get subbed at half time. This is not a normal scenario I guess, players love time and space, but for me I get nervous, panic and when that thought has crossed my mind a player has tackled me or I mess up my pass. I can be disappointed, but it will just take a few more games for this problem to go away I think. I always gotta think positive, I'm better than all these guys, and I'll just remember to keep looking around me when I'm in a position where I'm likely to get the ball.

Also played for the reserves today, 90 minutes as a centre mid. Don't want to talk much about it, the match was like tennis, the ball always in the air going back and forth. I hate that. A midfielder just runs back and forth without getting the ball. It's so frustrating.

Realised today that it's been one whole year since I began my 20 hour a week schedule. In the last 365 days, I can't count too many days where I've had a full days rest. It's been many long days, 3 hours a day almost every day can get to you sometimes. But when your in pursuit of what you want the most, you deal with it, get through it and keep believing. Roughly 1000 hours of on and off the field work. I felt this week that I'm almost at that stage where I feel fully comfortable with the ball. Passing, shooting, heading, control, etc, I almost feel 100% pro-like in all of them. Maybe a few more weeks, or months and the ball and me will feel fully natural.

Next week

It's 2am as I'm writing this and a whole weekend of football has ended. I was a unused sub for the first team on Saturday's game. It's bullshit, technically I am better than most of the players and I think it's caused players in the team to point out more loudly to the coach that the team needs me. The problem is, the coach is a fat idiot according to the team, but I have no idea what he's saying during pre-match and half time talks, but usually a few of the guys are having a laugh because he probably has the slightest clue about what he's saying + the player in my position is like a teachers pet (apparently). I guess the situation will get better in the coming weeks and I will get more playing time, but it's frustrating to take 5 or 6 hours out of your day, travel to the other side of the city and back, to sit on the bench and not even play.

Today's game was better with the reserves. We played against a pretty good reserve side. Played the full match as a right centre mid in a 4-3-2-1 formation, more defensive minded as last time our team apparently lost 10-0. I played well and got lots of tackles in. But 0-0 and 10 minutes to go, a penalty was conceded and they scored. And in the last few, there was a corner, I let my marker go really easily and he scored. I gotta say that sometimes I let the guy I mark go easily. I think it's just coz I'm scared to grab him and push him which sounds pretty lame. I will toughen up there. But overall, I got a lot of praise from my team mates and like I said, hopefully I will start actually playing with the first team.

Not much else to say. No news on the Belgium trial.

Oh, and I finished mocks, so for the next month or so I think I have a little less homework.. I hope The final exams take place in May. After that I'm done and out!

Training Plan

Meds were done this week. I can finally start playing every weekend for the next few months. Not going to keep this long because I have to study for a important German oral exam + I have my mocks.

I will quickly tell you a story about "Dudu". In my team there is this random black guy called Dudu. He's 21 and after a match on reserve game on Saturday, I was with him and he was talking about where he played and stuff. What he's doing in the 4th division of Hungary I don't know, but I think because of his girlfriend and his agent he's having trouble with. Now he's good, reminds me of Essien. But not amazing. He said he was offered a contract in Finland for 5000 euro a month and has lots of managers calling him up. Of course, I don't know how true the things he's saying are, but if he's getting offers, then surely I can get offers too and I am four years younger than him! Back in October, one of my coaches was talking about possibly playing in Finland and now I'm beginning to see over that huge wall of doubt and thinking "will I be a professional footballer?" I'm guessing that I have a very good chance of starting my career in one of the lower leagues around Europe and work my way up to playing in the Premier league of course!

Janos told me this week that he will be sending over my CV and video to his friend that just became a director at a 1st division Belgium club. He sternly told me that I can't go and screw up there because "It won't look good for anyone." One of my fears and motivaters is not getting my coach angry! I can't fail him and I don't want to fail myself anymore! I have to make it!

Training Review

20 hours like always. One thing I saw observing games this week were Hernandez' (Man united) runs. Played with the reserves for some reason.. it sucks.. I don't like playing the reserves, most players are rubbish. I should be playing with the a-team but I'm not sure why. Played 45 min, right mid (only could play one half, because of u/19's)
- come to ball more, want it. Didn't want it enough.
- one on ones shit.
- I'm making more runs = good.

It's strange how a few months ago, everyone was angry at Rooney because he wanted to leave, all part of the plan of getting a salary raise I'm guessing. In one moment, all that drama is gone and forgotten with probably the best goal he'll ever score in his career. I was half asleep watching the game on sopcast, and suddenly I hear "Roooooney" and the crowd going crazy. I open my eyes and see the replay of the goal. Wow.

This week I played in two games, and went ok actually. Here are the thoughts I wrote down after the games:

Game #2 45 min 2nd half left mid
- passing and containing was good.
- time and space on the ball I was hesitant
- not confident taking on defenders.
- 1 assist from corner.
- alot of running box to box
- didn't want the ball because I was scared of losing the ball….

Game #3 85 min left mid 4-4
- Scored one goal. The goal was very nice, straight into the inside right post from inside edge of box.
- made some good cross field runs to the right side.
- one on ones i took a touch too much, defender was always winning ball.
- was too long on the ball sometimes in tight situations and lost it.

I am starting to feel more confident playing with the guys, it's great when I'm playing with guys who know what there doing and can play, and this has a knock on effect to when I train with my club team. I would say it's a serious amateur mens team, or semi pro. I heard that half the players in this four division league will get paid up to $750 a month, so on that basis, yeah it's good. I can only get better playing with these adults, and in the next few weeks I'll have a better idea of how I compare and what I really need to improve on and my strengths.

Next Week

I was going to talk about a gym plan, I should of asked people about this, but we were doing workouts in training this week. Anyway, I feel like If I started going then I would have maybe 2 x 1 hour sessions a week, I really feel like I don't need to build extra muscle, I can compete with adults now and don't feel outmuscled. But perhaps I need to tone up a little, and maybe this will give me an extra advantage on the pitch.

20 hours of training as usual this week, I analysed games a whole lot of the time because I needed to rest in between games. One of the disadvantages of playing regular games is that I need more recovery time and so I can't play on my own that much!

Following the same schedule from last week.

I finally got to play with the Hungarian men's team (finally!) in a friendly match against the leaders of the third division. I came on as a sub, playing 30 minutes of the match as a left winger. Beforehand, it was a bit arkward in the changing rooms, I was the only one who couldn't speak Hungarian, and not many people speaked English. I wasn't sure about how I would go, but it turned out that I did pretty well. What stood out most was my speed, it wasn't that difficult to outsprint their defenders and get some decent crosses in. So even though I only played a little bit, I know now that I can compete with proper men and I think that the coach will invite me back to play with the team (that or I play in the reserves). I really, really want to play with them again, and I really need that sort of match experience. Final score was 3-3. On a side note, I found out that the team we played against get paid $750 usd a month + bonuses which is pretty good for Hungary. It was a friendly, but really they wernet that great so it gives me hope.

My registration still needs a signature or something, so I still can't play in the regular league for the side until that's sorted out.

Other news, I'm going to stop talking about that agent situation until something actually happens. My Dad was suppose to sort things out this week, but he didn't.

Torres to the club I support Chelsea for 50 million pounds.. pretty amazing.

Just finished watching the game, and it frustrates me how I can't see the real motivation to score from him, to really want the ball all the time.

This Week

I've been wondering whether or not to start going to gym as part of my training plan. I was a bit worried before about doing weights because I didn't want to stunt my growth. But now that I am 17 and a half I can consider it. I probably need a bit more tone on my body if I am going to compete at men's level, but the thing is I don't really know what I should include in my workout sessions, what I should work on, techniques I use, how often, etc. So next week I'm gonna find out a bit more and perhaps make a plan.

So 18.5 hours this week, more game watching this week then most. 20 hours again next week. Ja, gut.

Hey,

Got back from Bucharest today and after one day of the three scheduled playing days, we got sent back home. It turns out that there were three cases of swine flu reported from the school and so the Romain government had to shut down the school and our torny. At least we got to take an all-expenses paid one-hour flight back home instead of a 15 hour train ride we did getting there.

If feeling my whole body aching now, after playing 3×60 minute matches on Thursday.
1st game against Istanbul: Won 2-1
2nd game against Warsaw: Lost 2-0
3rd game against Bucharest: Lost 4-0

Going back on the goals I set for myself.
Did I Give 100%? I don’t think I gave absolutely everything, I still had some energy left but other than that I did work pretty hard.
Concentration? I guess so, there weren’t really any moments where I wasn’t concentrating.
Did I Score 7 Goals? No, I scored none our of the two goals ! I’m really pissed at myself about this, I had a couple of great chances but almost all of them were blocked by defenders.
All Tornuament Team? Cancelled tornumanet so don’t know..
MVP? Don’t know yet, have a feeling I have a good chance.

The Good things I did:

I was really pacey on and off the ball (except in the Warsaw game who had an exceptionally quick sweeper).

Ball control was good, hardly lost the ball.

Gave some nice through balls and long passes.

Determination was high to get back in positions and work to get the ball.

Leadership, I really wanted to win games so I screamed at players to mark up, gave feedback to what players could do better, etc.

The things I will improve on:

50/50 Balls, especially in the air. I think it’s because I’m scared of clashing heads, I’m a high jumper and a good header but it’s this mental thing about hurting my head with another player. Tackles I always seem to lose.

First touch, this was my biggest downside as my touch dictated how it would lead up to the next shot, pass, etc.

Urgency, I always relax way too much on the ball which is why my shots are blocked and I missed an open goal and a couple of nice opportunities which looked on target after I shot them.

Confidence with left foot, I’m scared of taking touches with my left foot and shots. Need to practice more on it.

Will post this weeks training schedule by Monday.

As for then, come on Chelsea!! who play man u this wkend!

For the Bucharest Tournament I have set myself these goals that will pave the way to professional success.

1. Give 100%. After a couple of off-trainings, I need to get myself on track again. Give 100% for all matches and I would have done all I can to improve my ability and prove I am the best.
2. Concentration – Concentration has been low for alot of games, every touch, movement, everything im involved in CONCENTRATE.

By Doing these things I will:

1. Score 7 Goals, this is an average of 1 goal a game and will make me noticeable
2. Be in the All-Torn Team – Have to prove I am the best in this competition
3. Get an team award for being one of the best player, most improved, etc.

I thought I’d write a personal reflection on how I thought my tornameny this weekend in Zurich went. Here are the facts first of all. There were 2×4 teams in the competition which included:

Us

Zurich B team

Munich

Vienna

1st game against Zurich we won 3-0. (1 Goal from me)
2nd game against Munich we lost 1-0

The third game was a must win since it was the last game and we were only on 3 points, whereas Vienna were on 4. If we won this we would make it to the top 4 playoffs. In this match I had the feeling of desire and passion, like when your teams 2-1 down and there’s 10 minutes to go to equalize which is what happened. In those 10 minutes you feel the desire of scoring but what’s frustrating is when you don’t feel that desire with your teammates, I was so pissed when I saw our right back walking to his position when the ball was in our half, he was only on the halfway line! And when your teammates give a shitty pass and lose possession. I could of equalized with a one on one which I shot outside of the box, the keeper parried it out but to be fair I had about four guys on me, still I was pissed that I didn’t finish the golden opportunity and also which I had practiced in training beforehand. We lost the game 2-1 and I was honestly gutted, we had a good chance of beating those teams we lost to and it just didn’t happen, like we had beaten Vienna 2-0 the week before. This now meant were either going to finish 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th. We ended up finishing 6th in the tournament.

From 5 Games
I Scored: 2
Assisted: 1
I felt that I could have done much better. I think I didn’t put in 100% effort in all my games, I was sometimes lazy and I just didn’t give it my all.

Anyway these games were a good chance to analyse my performance and now focus on the things I could have done better:

50/50 Balls

Long shots, under pressure

First touch

Ball Control. under high speed

There’s another upcoming international schools tournament in around 2-3 weeks or so, so I have to start preparing for that. Here’s my plan for this week.

Monday Schedule:
1.Running with ball (45 mins)
2. 3 – 4 juggles and First touch towards goal, sprint and shot outside box (2x 8 reps)
3.Dribble 6 cones, touch and shoot (2 x 8 reps)
4. 60 pushups and situps aswell as 30 back-ups during rests
5. End training with Free Kicks from various positions

Tuesday Schedule
Attend regular club training.

Wednesday Schedule
Morning: 40 minutes running with ball
Attend regular club training

Thursday Schedule
Attend regular club training.

Friday Schedule
Same as Monday.

Saturday Schedule
Attend regular club training

Sunday Schedule
Rest

I will commit to this schedule: Signed Nick Humphries 19/10/09 unless something bad happens.

Hey there, it’s been a couple of weeks since the last post.. I don’t know why i’ve put off putting posts.. probably because nothing new has really happened.

Anyway, this weekend we played an annual friendly game against an Austrian schools team all about 16,17 and 18 years old. We played a game of two legs. Our team lost the first leg 1 – 0.. but it’s the second leg where I shined. I assisted the first goal by a cross converted into a header and the second goal I scored from a lobbed through ball and one-on-one finish with the keeper. It was the first time our team won against this team for five years and i’m proud to say that I played a big part in getting the win. I guess working hard in training pays off… Anyway this Thursday i’ll be heading off to Zurich, Switzerland to play in a schools tornuament with teams around europe.. i’ll tell you how it goes!

In another development I am now getting up a hour early in the mornings, three times a week to train. I thought.. if proffessional players train two times a day then why don’t I? That means I have..
Monday: new solo training (1 hour) in the mornings and afternoons (1 1/2 hours)
Tuesday: 1x Academy training (2 hours)
Wednesday: new solo training (1 hour) in morning and afternoon Academy traning (1 1/2 hours
Thursday: Academy training (2 hours)
Friday: schools training (1 1/2 hours)
Saturday: Academy training (1 1/12 hours)
Sunday: REST

looks more like a pro schedule.

Hallo my name a borat.

No. Anyway today in training we played against some random group of orphans (gypsy kids) from the countryside who randomly came to play our team. They were shit, but anyway we won a 8 vs 8 game like 3-1. I scored one (it was kinda like rooney’s goal against Tottenham if you saw it), but I lost the ball a couple of times and this really pisses me off as my aim is not to lose a ball at all in a game, yet I lost a few against crappy 13-14 year old kids who are not even a proper team. Fuck. My aim to be pro, when I do crap like this it has a hit on my confidence.

What pisses me off more is that we had a shooting drill where we dribble the ball from about 25m out and we take a shot from about 20m from goal. Now shooting from long range is like my best skill asset, i’ve practiced it for years and I can pull off some good powerful, accurate goals. Now when i’m by myself at the oval and I practice this it makes me pissed even when I score down the middle of the goal because a keeper can easily save it, now you can imagine when I keep missing the goal in this drill, the coach gets pissed and other people score more than me how guttered you can be… maybe it’s the shit hard, field, ditchy , hole we play on and the hard, fully pumped up balls we play with is why my true skill doesn’t show but still.. fuck!

I guess all I can do is use today as motivation to do better.
